Protecting a concrete floor helps limit the absorption of moisture and dirt, depending on the treatment. See how we impregnated the floor of JW Carworks in Kozen and which points of attention apply for sustainable concrete protection.
How can you protect concrete sustainably?
Sustainable concrete protection starts with the use of the floor. In a home, stains and maintenance play a role; in a workshop, also oil, cleaning agents and load. In Kozen, we chose impregnation. That project is a practical example, not a guarantee that the same treatment suits every floor.
Impregnation, coating or curing?
- Impregnation: penetrates a porous substrate. The chosen product properties determine whether the treatment helps repel water, oil or other contamination.
- Coating: forms a layer on the concrete. Assess adhesion, moisture condition, abrasion resistance and chemical exposure for the intended use.
- Curing: limits too rapid drying of fresh concrete. This is a different phase than stain protection of an existing floor.
What should you check beforehand?
Have the substrate, existing treatments and any moisture issues assessed. Create a test patch to check absorption, colour and gloss. Follow the technical datasheet for preparation, consumption and commissioning. Remove spilled liquids quickly: a treatment does not automatically make concrete stain-free or resistant to all chemicals.
How does the protection continue to work?
Use a cleaner suitable for both the floor and the treatment. Check wear and stain-prone areas and coordinate any re-treatment according to the product instructions and usage. Without that information, we cannot promise a fixed lifespan.

Customer story: JW Carworks – Kozen
JW Carworks is a specialised workshop where car tuning, performance upgrades and customisation are central.
Owner Jordy is known for his eye for detail and his expertise in specialised work, such as designing and installing custom exhaust systems, performance tuning and technical modifications that go beyond standard solutions.
In such a working environment, the floor is heavily loaded daily: vehicles, jacks, lifts, oil, water and chemical products constantly come into contact with the concrete. Aesthetics are important, but functionality and durability are crucial here.
Why concrete protection is essential in a car workshop
A concrete floor is strong but naturally porous. Without protection, oil, fats and liquids can penetrate deeply into the concrete, resulting in permanent stains and accelerated wear. In a professional environment such as JW Carworks, that is undesirable both visually and practically.
By choosing a professional protection, the floor remains:
- better resistant to oil and liquids
- easier to clean
- more wear-resistant under intensive use
- representative for customers visiting the workshop
Sustainable protection through impregnation
At JW Carworks, a deep penetrating impregnation of the concrete floor was chosen. This treatment penetrates the concrete without changing its appearance, preserving the character of the floor.
The result:
- a water- and dirt-repellent surface
- less maintenance
- a floor that withstands daily professional use
- a neat, well-maintained appearance that matches the level of the work delivered
"The impregnation of our concrete floor was carried out extremely professionally.
The floor is now better protected, easier to maintain."
Practice over theory for protecting a concrete floor
This customer story perfectly shows how a well-protected concrete floor makes a difference in practice. Not a marketing story, but a realistic solution for a specialised workshop where quality and durability go hand in hand and the concrete floor remains protected against stains.
Why JW Carworks chose impregnation
In a car workshop, oil, water and dirt come into contact with the floor daily. By impregnating, the concrete is protected from within, without changing the industrial appearance.
An impregnation penetrates deeply into the concrete and preserves the natural appearance. A coating forms a layer on top of the floor. Which approach is suitable depends on the substrate, wear and chemical exposure.
That depends on the product and the liquid. Water repellency does not prove oil resistance. Check the technical data sheet and remove spilled liquids quickly.
The effect on colour and gloss depends on the product and the substrate. Therefore, assess a test area beforehand. This was important for JW Carworks, where a sleek, professional appearance is desired.
Certainly. For workshops with vehicles, lifts and heavy loads, impregnation is a durable solution that helps prevent wear and staining.
Maintenance is simpler and faster. Dirt adheres less to the surface, so regular cleaning is sufficient to keep the floor in good condition.
