Sawing joints in a new concrete floor

Glansbeton saws joints in new, fresh concrete. We coordinate the saw lines and the timing of the sawing with the floor being installed.

Discuss the sawing before pouring. This way we can take into account the shape of the floor, door openings, columns and connections.

Why are joints sawn in concrete?

Concrete shrinks during hardening. Saw-cut shrinkage joints help to control where cracking occurs. That is why they are included in the floor design.

Joints do not guarantee a completely crack-free floor. The substrate, reinforcement, execution and conditions also play a role.

Determining the saw lines in advance

The joints must fit the shape and structure of the floor. Corners, columns, passages and connections are taken into account in the layout.

Do you have a specific line pattern in mind? Send us your plan. We will review how this aligns with the technical joint layout. Also mention any underfloor heating or other pipes in the floor.

Sawing at the right time

Sawing is part of the planning of the new floor. The concrete must be sufficiently hardened to be sawed, but the joints must also be made in time.

We coordinate the timing with the concrete and the conditions on site. Therefore, we do not provide a fixed number of hours that applies to every floor. Ensure the floor remains accessible for the sawing work.

What determines the price of the sawing work?

The total length of the saw lines, the required depth and accessibility partly determine the work. The schedule must also align with the pouring of the concrete.

Send your floor plan, site address and planned pouring date. Include the surface area, desired saw lines and the contact person on site. This way we can include the sawing work in the arrangements for your new concrete floor.

Frequently asked questions

Do saw-cut joints prevent all cracks?

No. Contraction joints help control cracking, but they cannot guarantee that cracks will not appear elsewhere.

Do you also saw existing concrete floors?

No. We only saw into new, fresh concrete. Cutting through an existing floor or making an opening is not part of our services.
