For a contractor in Meerbeek, Glansbeton installed a black concrete floor in a hangar for helicopters. The dark floor gives the space the well-maintained appearance of a showroom, while the hangar is also used daily.
Housing and moving
The helicopters are not only kept dry there: they are also moved over the floor. Wear resistance was therefore an important consideration when choosing the floor finish.

A black polished concrete floor
The project photo shows how the dark finish forms a calm base for the helicopters and the light walls. Polished concrete is used here in a different way than in a home, shop or ordinary industrial hall.
The black hangar floor from different viewpoints
The black concrete floor runs around and between the helicopters. From the higher viewpoints, the layout of the hangar is easy to follow. The lower view shows the perspective over the concrete surface. The light walls, windows and equipment contrast with the dark floor.

The photos show the same floor under different lighting conditions. Reflections make some areas appear lighter, without this indicating a different concrete colour by itself. For your own project, therefore, examine both the overall effect and the details of a dark finish.
Matching the floor to the space
For a hangar, we consider the usage, the load, and the way vehicles or equipment are moved. Together with the desired colour and appearance, these details form the basis for discussing the concrete floor.
