Polished concrete floor in Lummen: timeless since 2014

A look inside again at Sven, more than twelve years after installation.

In 2014 we installed a polished concrete floor at Sven in Lummen. More than twelve years later, we take another look inside. The home is furnished, lived in, and the floor? It still feels just as timeless.

A project to look back on

You choose a floor for years

The most beautiful references are sometimes the homes we worked on long ago. At delivery you see a new result. Years later you see how a floor has found its place in daily life.

This polished concrete floor in Lummen is a fine example of that. We executed it in 2014. Today the light concrete floor remains a calm foundation for the open living space, with its large windows, wooden dining table and dark kitchen.

It is precisely that combination that appeals to us: the concrete is clearly present, but also allows the interior design to shine. That is why we are happy to share this home again.

From the kitchen island to the dining table

In the photos, you can see how the light floor visually connects the kitchen, dining room and sitting area. The dark kitchen island provides contrast. The wood of the dining table and the soft materials in the sitting area bring warmth.

The floor forms the common surface beneath those different areas. That makes residential polished concrete in a house so interesting: it provides cohesion, while each corner can have its own atmosphere.

A different table, a new carpet or a different colour on the wall? A calm foundation allows your interior to change with it.

The character of genuine concrete

A timeless appearance, with its own nuances

Residential polished concrete is a cast-in-place concrete floor whose surface is polished. The visible material has its own pattern and colour nuances. It is precisely this character that makes each floor unique.

At Sven we can look back on a floor that has been part of the home since 2014. That says more about the long-term appearance than a photo taken immediately after installation. It remains pleasing to see how naturally the floor still fits into the interior today.

A very special floor inspection

Gotham can wait.
First the floor inspection.

The house belongs to Sven.
The floor to Glansbeton.
The round is for Batman.

A cape, bare feet and a good dose of seriousness. This little Batman takes his patrol through the kitchen very seriously. Of course, we are mainly looking at the floor.

Sven sent us this video in 2025 and gave permission to share it. The polished concrete floor had already been there since 2014. Whether Batman also approved the rest of the house, we do not know. His report is strictly confidential.
