At Velotril on be-MINE in Beringen, bicycles and an industrial interior come together. Glansbeton carried out the concrete floor there. The photos show the furnished shop with wooden display walls, bicycles and a lounge: a place where a large concrete floor is much more than just a practical base.

A shop floor in a building with character
The visible structure and brick walls determine the atmosphere of the building. The grey concrete floor calmly complements this. It holds the different zones together, from the bicycle arrangements to the place where visitors can sit.
The photos also clearly show how important free space is in a shop. Between the bicycles and displays, the floor remains visible. This gives airiness to the interior and helps to highlight the individual products. The concrete supports the furnishing without adding a busy pattern itself.

Wood brings warmth to the industrial interior
Along the walls, wooden slats and furniture create a warmer atmosphere. At the lounge, you see wood, seating areas and the grey floor together. The choice of materials makes the building more welcoming, while the industrial character remains recognisable.
This is also inspiration for a home. A concrete floor can go well with a wooden kitchen, a dining table or custom-made cabinets. The scale of a shop is different, but the interplay of materials works in the same way. Therefore, do not only look at the floor, but also at the colours and textures around it.
A reference from the start of Velotril
Velotril opened in October 2020 at be-MINE. This project story shows the furnished interior from that period. It is a retrospective on the result of our flooring works, with the bicycle arrangements and lounge as seen in these images.
For a new shop floor, we discuss among other things walking routes, layout, use and the jointing plan. For a home, that conversation starts with the living spaces and the desired atmosphere. Discover our polished concrete floors and the possibilities of residential concrete. This is how we translate inspiration from a reference into your own project.

Questions about this project
Can a shop floor provide inspiration for a home?
Certainly. The combination of grey concrete with wood and brick is also suitable on a residential scale. The technical construction is, however, tailored to the specific project.
What do we discuss in advance for a concrete floor in a shop?
We look at the layout, expected load, connections, scheduling and maintenance. The floor is prepared together with the layout and the use.

From the bike shop to the lounge
This overview shows the concrete floor along the seating and bicycle arrangements. The wide view makes visible how the floor connects the different zones, while the wooden furnishings and the existing structure define the industrial interior.
