A dark concrete floor gives a light home a clear foundation. In this project in Zeebrugge, Glansbeton installed the floor beneath a white kitchen and a living area with a built-in fireplace. The photos show the home in use: an interior in which the concrete is part of daily life.

A dark floor beneath a light kitchen
The white kitchen clearly stands out against the dark floor. The contrast gives the cabinets and the worktop a clear place in the room. Further in the home, the same floor continues into the living area, where furniture and everyday objects determine the atmosphere.
A dark floor does not mean that a room automatically becomes dark. The windows, walls and furnishings also play a role. Therefore, consider the entire interior when comparing colours. Here, the light kitchen and walls provide balance, while the floor gives the whole a sense of calm.

The fireplace as a warm spot in the home
At the built-in fireplace, the floor is clearly visible. The calm wall and the fire make that corner a distinctive spot in the interior. Concrete can therefore also go hand in hand with a homely, warm interior.
The photos show different viewing directions. This way you notice how the surface changes with the light and the distance to the windows. Use such a reference as inspiration for the atmosphere, not as an exact colour sample. The final appearance also depends on the materials and conditions in your home.
From inspiration to a suitable floor
For your home, we first review the plan and the available floor construction. Substrate, connections, any underfloor heating and the location of joints require joint preparation. For a kitchen and living area, we also discuss how the floor will be protected and maintained.
A dark tint does not automatically make the surface resistant to dirt or stains. Appropriate treatment and careful use remain important. Questions about this project
Does a dark concrete floor fit in a light home?
This home shows how a dark floor provides contrast to white cabinets and light walls. The amount of daylight and the rest of the interior also influence the result.
Is the colour in the photos exactly reproducible?
Photos help to convey the desired atmosphere. Concrete has natural nuances and the light changes perception. We therefore establish choices and expectations together in advance.
