An industrial floor at Agfa-Gevaert in Mortsel
This reference combines the application and material choice: a concrete floor on an industrial site, finished with Mastertop 200 French Grey. In the project, STRABAG involved. The site designation J555 and building 535 clarify the exact location within the site to which this application related.
An industrial floor requires more than a colour choice. The use of the space, the load, and the desired surface properties must be coordinated. A floor hardener is part of that finishing; the concrete slab, the reinforcement, and the joints also require their own design.
What is Mastertop 200?
Mastertop 200 is, according to the accompanying technical data sheet, a pre-mixed dry broadcast product based on hydraulic binders and specially treated metal aggregate. The manufacturer describes it for industrial and other floors where high resistance to wear and impact is required.
The material is applied in the top layer of the fresh concrete. It is therefore not a loose floor covering nor a paint layer applied afterwards on the hardened floor. The broadcast method and the finishing of the concrete together form the surface finish.

French Grey as colour choice
For the application at Agfa-Gevaert, French Grey was specified. The depicted sample shows that colour from the product documentation. It is a colour indication, not a photo of the executed floor.
The colour chart states that the Mastertop 200 series can appear somewhat darker than other types. The amount of broadcast material can also cause colour differences. For a new project, therefore, assess a suitable sample and agree on the desired finish in advance.
What was this broadcast material described for?
The technical datasheet mentions, among others, workshops, garages, assembly factories, heavily loaded storage areas, printing houses, and drying ovens in paper mills. This list describes possible product applications; it does not mean that all these functions were present in this project.
The same datasheet contains limitations for, among others, constantly moist zones and conditions in which substances can attack the cement. Therefore, high abrasion resistance is not a general guarantee for every chemical or moisture exposure. For new works, the material choice must be aligned with the current product information and the actual conditions.
Broadcasting, finishing and curing
The product description covers spreading the dry-shake material, working it into fresh concrete by mechanical floating, and the final power-trowel finish. It also addresses curing and protection during subsequent work. These are interconnected steps: a surface finish must be carefully executed and protected.
Also read our explanation about concrete curing. Those who want to have an existing, already hardened floor treated can find more information at subsequent polishing of a concrete floor.

Send us the plans, surface area, location and intended use of the space. Also specify the desired colour and any special loads. This way the finishing can be discussed specifically, together with the other requirements for the floor.
